About halfway through Craig Mullaney's terrific new book is a quotation from Sir William Francis Butler that stopped me in my (figurative) tracks:
"The nation that will insist on drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the
thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking done by cowards."
This is not just a book about surviving the serial challenges of West Point, Ranger School, Oxford University
and combat in Afghanistan - interesting as all those vividly portrayed sequences are - it is also the story of the development of a mind and a soul. This book is a must buy for any HR or corporate trainer.
Actually all of the ASTD sourcebooks are a must buy.. For parents whose children seem beyond hope. I liked how he truly knew what was important to him, no matter what the risk. This Kindle e-book was approximately 714 printed pages and sold for $4.99 at the time of writing this review.
