Go find them. All of the artwork is surrounded by a heavy black border with a signature line underneath and ends well before entering the binding. Whoever said that this book isn't well written is out of their minds. His final sentence tells the reader that Carrillo’s “ambition and the rigidity with which he pursued it squandered the sacrifices and the heroism of the tens of thousands of militants who suffered in the struggle against Franco”. All without being asked or even prodded. History will only be current up to that point.. But, unfortunately, the novel suffers from the same flaw as many fantasy works from this period: A bit of magic, some weird names, and a few fantasy tropes does not automatically make an epic fantasy.
So if you find this one on a used bookshelf somewhere, ask yourself a few questions before you pick it up. Deviation from a solid game plan is a mistake.
